HP 2133 Mini-Note

HP 2133 Mini-Note Netbook

The 2133 Mini-Note, or just Mini-Note, released by HP in April 2008. The Mini-Note was praised for everything but two things - Windows Vista Business the the VIA C7-M CPU.

Wrapped in aircraft grade aluminum, which houses a bright 8.9″ screen and a near full-size keyboard really gives the Mini-Note a professional, quality look not seen in many other netbooks. Inside the Mini-Note has a VIA C7-M ultra low voltage processor, 1.0Ghz to 1.6Ghz which is a major point of contention. The VIA C7-M runs fairly hot, and much slower than Intel’s 900mhz mobile Celeron used in the eeePC. However VIA has released their new Nano (formerly Isaiah) CPU which will improve performance considerably in future models. Also the Nano is pin-compatible to the C7-M so it is an easy upgrade to make for HP.

Also inside the 2133 is 512MB to 2GB of RAM, a 4GB SSD or 120GB at 5400RPM or 7200PM HD, or a 160GB HD running at 5400 RPM. SuSE Linux, Vista Home, Vista Business and XP are available for the OS. Also included are two USB ports, 10/100/1000 ethernet, Bluetooth (optional), 802.11 a/b/g or just b/g, VGA out, SD Card reader and a PCI express slot.
